The open is around the corner y’all!

So I’m sitting in my living room, drying off Miss Oakley after drying to convince her to go outside and potty during a light drizzle when all of a sudden, we’ve got hail. No, we didn’t have cows, just hail. Big ole fat hail.

Now I have a dog shaking on my lap refusing to leave. So it dawns on me to pop over and check my stats on here. I mean, I’m a fairly new blogger with almost four months under my belt.

And you know what’s happened in those four months?

I’ve already got 40 followers on here. FORTY! That’s crazy to me! I never thought that people would actually want to read and follow what I have to say. I know I can go off on little tangents and everything, but forty people in four months?! Thanks guys and gals!

One of the other things I noticed is that I’ve gotten over 765 people to read this here blog. Again, I didn’t realize people would actually read what I had to say!

But you know what’s really on my mind right now?

Not hail, not stats, not numbers. No, not any of those things.

My mind is on The Open. You know, the CrossFit Open.

It starts on Thursday.

14.1 will be released on Thursday.

And yeah, I registered for it, and yeah I (think) I’m ready for the challenge.

But you know what’s really on my mind about The Open? I’m not worried about the movements (yet) or the actual workouts (yet).

I’m worried about whether or not I will have time to do the first workout.

You see, with me and my crazy life, I work nights. A lot. And it just so happens that I’ll be working tonight, tomorrow, and Thursday night. And probably Friday night too.

That normally wouldn’t be a problem for me, but here in Louisiana we celebrate this little thing called Mardi Gras and because of a parade on Saturday, my box isn’t having open gym.

So I need to start bribing and begging people, right? Yep. Sure do.

Boxmates, coaches and friends who I happen to know. If you happen to be reading this (hopefully not for the first time ever)…….

I will bring you coffee. I will make you dinner. I will wash your car. I will pay you.

I will do ANYTHING just to have someone yell at me and kick my butt and judge me and make sure I’m not going to fall on my face and die.

So please. If you workout at my box/gym and happen to want any of the above things and happen to be a judge, please. Please please please. Judge me. I dare ya.

It will make me so happy happy happy.

Oh, PS, if you haven’t registered yet, just do it. Rip the callous off and just do it.

I did.

Manic Monday!

Y’all, it’s been a crazy weekend. And I mean CRAZY!

21JumpPolice

Friday was a work-filled day followed by a drive to New Orleans and a drive to Slidell to go to a meet and greet prior to volunteering at my first ever Crossfit competition, the Battle on the Bayou hosted by Finish Strong Crossfit.

Saturday I was up with the chickens to drive out to the Dirty ‘Dell for 6:45am to help set up registration for the day of competition and whatnot. I ended up having to leave early but not before snapping some pics of my teammates kicking butt in the competition.

Sunday I got a lot done. Errands, food prep, meal planning, dog park shenanigans and juicing. Oh, and I registered for my first ever Crossfit competition, you know, as an athlete. And the Crossfit Open.

Did I really jut type that out?

I mean, it was kind of a spur of the moment thing, but now I’m starting to realize that it’s really happening.

I will be competing in a Crossfit competition. And the Open!

Crazy!

The Crossfit Open is something I don’t know too much about. My knowledge of it basically scratches at the surface. My girl Ace over at Eat.Pray.WOD. talked me into signing up for it. And by talked me into it, I mean she pretty much told me “no excuses, you’re doing it”. The first workout is released on February 27th and the final workout will be released five weeks later on March 27th.

Well, come April 19th I will have completed my first ever competition, the Festivus Games, out in Alexandria, LA. Needless to say, I’m super stoked.

2014 is going to be a good year. I can feel it.
